The Challenge
One of the biggest challenges in incoming and outgoing goods at Ludwig Meister is the high volume. The large quantities of incoming goods have to be processed efficiently and quickly. Added to this is the inspection for damage, defects or missing parts. This requires precise inspections as well as documentation and data recording. All information on incoming goods, such as suppliers, quantities and serial numbers, must be carefully recorded and documented. In the outgoing goods process, order processing is particularly important to ensure that the right products are always selected, packed and dispatched. Another priority for Ludwig Meister is to constantly improve the work situation for the employees. The NIMMSTA Smart Watches were used to counteract these challenges.
The Solution
The employees are very enthusiastic about the Smart Watches. Right from the start, the logisticians found the watches extremely easy and intuitive to use. Due to the light weight of only 45 grams and the flexibility, the watch is very comfortable to wear and barely noticeable. Thanks to the flexible Velcro fastening on the back of the hand, the logistician can choose the position of the smart watch and the trigger on the cuff to suit their personal ergonomics. This relieves the strain on the body and increases the logistician‘s performance, and the logisticians also find the hands free during the process a great relief. The Results
PROCESS REDUCED FROM 4 TO 2 SECONDS
Ludwig Meister very quickly realised impressive quantitative results with NIMMSTA. The WE and WA process was shortened by 2 seconds, resulting in a 50% increase in efficiency.
FREE HANDS, NO GRIPPING TIME
The Smart Watch remains on the back of the logistician‘s hand throughout the shift, so that their hands are always free to safely grasp the goods. NIMMSTA completely eliminates the gripping and searching time required when using the gun scanner. In addition, logistics staff are much more mobile and flexible in their movements This not only increases efficiency, but also significantly improves work safety.
The Future
Due to the impressive efficiency gains, further logistics areas will be equipped with NIMMSTA in the future. As soon as the newly planned storage facility has been completed, further workstations will be equipped with the smart watches. The plan is to increase this to around 30 units. In addition, the touch display of the watches will be fully utilised in the future.
