About Fairsenden

FAIRSENDEN is an innovative SMART City logistics company from Berlin. The start-up focuses on environmentally friendly shipping with advanced IT infrastructure and personnel. The parcels are delivered using a 100% environmentally friendly range of vehicles, consisting of eCargo bikes and eVans. This minimises CO2 emissions in the supply chain as much as possible. In addition, delivery traffic is sustainably reduced and the concept contributes to improving air quality in the city. With Fairsenden, the customer can decide shortly after a purchase when the parcel deliverer should be at the door.

The shipping service is integrated via an API interface and the plugin is already available for all major shop systems. In times of growing online trade and climate change, there is huge potential for the start-up. Due to the coronavirus situation, Fairsenden's orders are also increasing sharply, which is why smooth processes are essential.

Challenge

As a smart shipper, logistics is Fairsenden's core business. Punctual and fast deliveries are essential in order to offer customers perfect service. This includes receiving goods, picking the delivery routes in the city and micro hubs and on-time delivery. These tasks are carried out by the company's employees using eCargo bikes and eVans. To overcome these challenges, Fairsenden needs error-free and fast processes. The aim is to process deliveries in a timely and environmentally friendly manner, pay staff fairly and create a pleasant working environment.

Solution

Together with the LB Group, NIMMSTA partner GODBM developed a concept that combines various technology modules. One key element was the integration of the warehouse management solution. LVS2GO was implemented for the entire logistics process, and the Smart Watch with touch display was integrated directly into the software architecture. The Smart Watch saves time and costs and reduces IT interfaces. As the scanner is attached to the back of the hand, the employees' hands remain free at all times. This wearable was integrated into various processes and workflows from the outset, such as picking in the hub and scanning on delivery. The hands-free advantage significantly improves user-friendliness, and the touch display works quickly and intuitively, similar to a smartphone. This feature speeds up the collection process by 30%.

Ergonomics and the innovative charging concept also played a decisive role, as they put battery life in the background and enable multi-shift operation without restrictions. The simple integration into LVS2GO and the independent configuration of the touch display also impressed the start-up. The Smart Watch can be worn over any gloves and complies with the IP 65 standard, which enables flexible integration into the logistics process.

''The collaboration with NIMMSTA was consistently positive. From the first test to the complete system integration, there was a professional communication culture, despite the difficult circumstances caused by coronavirus. This helps us as a system integrator to efficiently implement projects for customers.''
Manuel Haupt, Project Manager at GODBM

Experience

The Smart Watch provides an ideal hardware basis for the end-to-end process. All the necessary information is shown to Fairsenden employees on the touch display, and they can even use it to make entries. The Smart Watch is so easy to use that no training is required.
The integration of the Core Library into LVS2GO was realised by GODBM in a very short time, so that Fairsenden was able to start implementing the workflow immediately. The employees are delighted with the Smart Watch. The wearing comfort is optimal thanks to different sizes, and the scanner is hardly noticeable during the entire shift due to its low weight of only 45g.
